The Newbold Verden Scout’s held their first Gala in 20 years on Saturday 16 September. The High Sheriff was honoured to be invited to formally open the event. The Gala started with a wonderful parade through the village that finished in the playing fields at Newbold Verden Primary School.
Special thanks must go to Steve Dowell, the parents, and all the young people for all their hard work to bring the Gala back after so long.
Thank you to the community groups, business, residents and Newbold Verdon Primary School for making it happen and for supporting the Gala. It is an amazing achievement and an example of a true community event.
The sun came out and there were plenty of stalls and activities for everyone to participate and have fun. It was so good to see so many attending such a happy occasion. With these great foundations in place I very much hope the event will continue to grow in future years.
