MCCTS visit

The crucial job of transferring critically ill patients between hospitals in the East Midlands for specialist treatment is a highly skilled and vital service. It is provided by a combined St John Ambulance and NHS Midlands Critical Care Transfer Service based in Castle Donington and I recently had the opportunity to visit the site.

I met Paula Parkinson (Regional Head of Ambulance Operations – St John Ambulance) and Hillary Killer (General Manager of NHS Transport) and their teams that specialise in transferring babies, infants and children and spoke to them about their incredible and vital work. The hub is also home to St John Ambulance, another highly valued organisation in our community.  It makes me very proud to see the level of care and service being provided from our county to people across East and West Midlands at such critical life moments.
