My role as High Sheriff gives me a unique opportunity to meet key people who, through their work for local authorities, make vital contributions to Leicester and Leicestershire.

Recent examples include…

A visit to Oadby and Wigston Borough Council in Brocks Hill, Oadby, on Tuesday 6 May. I met the senior leadership team led by Chief Executive Anne Court and was extremely impressed by the enthusiasm of the staff. I heard about the challenges the authority faces and learned more about the work it is doing to meet the needs of its diverse communities.

The election of the new Lord Mayor of Leicester, Cllr Teresa Aldred, at Leicester Town Hall on Thursday 15 May. Council members took the opportunity to thank outgoing Lord Mayor Cllr Bhupen Dave and former Lady Mayoress Usha Dave for their work in the roles over the past year.
