Snibston Heritage Group

The days when Snibston Colliery was a working mine are brought to life by Snibston Heritage Trust at Snibston Colliery Park in Coalville.

The group’s volunteer guides, some of whom are former miners, welcome visitors of all ages to the site, bringing history to life by telling tales of life working in the mine. I was recently shown around the site and heard about what it was like to work in the control room and the importance of having a nurse at the colliery, who was essential for maintaining health and safety at the mine. It was such an interesting insight into the industrial history and heritage of our county.
