Braunstone History Group

The High Sheriff met the volunteers who are the Braunstone History Group at Braunstone Hall Stable Block to look round the walled garden and the museum.

The collection which was fascinating. It provides an important record of the Winstanley family who once lived at Braunstone Hall, now a hotel and restaurant called Winstanley House set in the 168 acres of Braunstone Park. The collection also has records showing the history of the Braunstone area from archaeological finds to local school records and war memorabilia. The visitor centre is run by the volunteers, and it is good to see it in such caring hands.

It was a pleasure to meet the members of the Braunston History Group who are so knowledgeable, and I really enjoyed the groups sense of comradery, which is precious as it is certainly a team effort. The work they do preserving and recording history is important for the future and I am in admiration of all their dedication.
