Carla Garey, Ashby Netball Club High Sheriff Award

Carla was the catalyst for a 50 strong team from Ashby Netball Club to beat the official Guinness World Record for the most goals scored in 24 hours, scoring 28,745 in total and also managing to raise a whopping £21,000 for Kids Village.

It was my privilege to give Carla Garey a High Sheriff of Leicestershire award in recognition of great and valuable services to the community. The award also recognises the appreciation of the residents and people Leicestershire for activity and contribution in enhancing the life of the community.

Thank you, Mel Thomas, for the nomination and to her friends from the Netball club for setting her up with a surprise presentation. Another evening hiding in a car park which is not easy to do in full uniform!
