Celebrating the reopening of Leicester Cathedral

The High Sheriff attended a Festal Evensong to celebrate the reopening of Leicester Cathedral after some 2 years of extensive work.

The Bishop of Leicester gave thanks, and the choir sang beautifully throughout the service. The project has opened up the Cathedral allowing far greater flexibility for events. It is open for all to see and to serve the people of Leicester. It will play an important role in accommodating the great work being done across the City to bring communities and different faiths together. It is good to see such a magnificent and historic building having been so carefully restored and there is further work to complete. Visitors will be able to again visit the resting place of King Richard III.

The Cathedral held its very first morning service earlier in the day which was attended by over 300 people. The Cathedral community now look forward to all the activities and festivities associated with celebrating Christmas.
