Golden Gloves Boxing Club Braunstone

There are some extraordinary people out there determined to ensure there are opportunities and support in their communities where they see the need, and there are also some remarkable young people who choose to take those opportunities and make the most of their lives.

The High Sheriff of Leicestershire visited Golden Gloves Boxing club in Braunstone where I deeply impressed by the commitment of the volunteers and the immense impact of the club on so many young lives in the area. The club welcomes everyone into their family and trains them to be best they can be.

Club members spoke about how it had helped them with loneliness, depression, sleeping, discipline, anxiety, ADHD and how they had grown in confidence and self-worth – what an incredible gift to our next generation by volunteers shaping lives for the future.

Golden Gloves Boxing club is open 6 days a week to its community and despite being in an area and relying entirely on fundraising and grants it has produced team GB boxers who also rely on, and need, sponsorship for equipment and to enable them to enter and travel to tournaments. If you want to be part of offering opportunities and changing young peoples please contact them on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/braustone.goldengloves

Thank you to Gary and Clare who have put their lives into this club. You are incredibly special people, thank you for your service and dedication. Please keep enjoying working your magic in the knowledge it is recognised and deeply worthwhile.

It was a pleasure to speak to the club members who are charming and great fun, thank you all for making me feel so welcome. It was my honour to learn about your club and share the evening with you all.
