High Sheriff of Leicestershire Award for Shabana Ahmad, Wesley Hall

Shabana has been a Community Volunteer at Wesley Hall, Hartington Road, Leicester for six years. She was nominated for a High Sheriff Award by Leicestershire police and Stephen Thompson, a trustee at Wesley Hall.

As a community volunteer, she has supported families and those less fortunate by helping with the food banks at Wesley Hall.

Shabana, provides support and advice for victims of domestic violence whose first language is not English ensuring they receive guidance and signposting for support and acting as translator for six different languages.

Recently Shabana helped organise a recognition event for mainly females from underrepresented communities who work in the garment manufacturing industry.

Again, beyond her other volunteering role, Shabana played a significant role supporting Leicestershire Black Police Association to deliver a Black History Month event, bringing the Black Community and Leicestershire Police together.
