Tucked away in Oadby, Leicester is a little oasis which are North Memorial Homes. These are homes offering independent living for ex-service personal in possession of some sort of disability pension and I recently had the honour of being present for the unveiling of a plaque by the Lord Lieutenant to mark the Coronation of the King.
We owe a huge debt to those who have served in our armed forces especially when they have been injured either physically or mentally carrying out their duty to ensure our country’s security. In return, North Memorial Homes charitable trust believe both veterans and their families should be able to live the rest of their lives in peaceful and tranquil surroundings.
It was my absolute pleasure to meet many of the trustees, staff and the residents of the North Memorial Homes. It is an extraordinary community with remarkable residents each with their own interesting an amusing stories. I really enjoyed my afternoon with you all and thank you for making me feel so welcome.
