It was wonderful to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to the Shama Women’s Centre, Leicester on Tuesday 16 May. @shamawomenscentre is a local charity that works to provide culturally inclusive support and activities to local women.
The Duke had the opportunity to see the range of activities offered by the centre and took part in a baking class by icing a cup cake. He was enthusiastic to learn about the experiences of our service users who had attended our ESOL, Textiles, Workers Rights and peer – support sessions. The Duke’s support, interest and warmth was deeply appreciated.
He went on to visit the, the African Caribbean Centre, King Richard III Visitor Centre and Leicester Cathedral, alongside the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mike Kapur OBE.
