Trade Sexual Health

As part of National HIV testing week, I visited Trade Sexual Health in Leicester to talk about the range of services that Trade delivers and discussed the importance of testing.

I talked to them about the HIV protection work they do in Leicester and Leicestershire and learnt how much HIV treatment and care has changed in recent years. People living with HIV now live as long as other people – thanks to taking just one pill a day. This now means that one of the best ways to end new HIV transmission is to find people who don’t know they have HIV and get them onto treatment.

I would encourage people to test for HIV regularly (or even for the first time), and particularly to encourage women to test as they as one is the largest groups of people receiving HIV diagnosis locally in recent years.
