So many people within Leicestershire Police spoken so highly of the Violence Reduction Network I felt I had to learn about the impactful work they do to prevent violence. I arrange to meet them, and they explained how they use a public health approach to prevent violence and we discussed the aims and successes and also the evaluation process they use. We had an interesting discussion about many aspects of violence prevention.
The VRN work locally as an alliance of groups, organisations and communities who are determined to prevent and reduce serious crime in the area. Their mission is to achieve “prevention through connection” by building an inclusive, collaborative and courageous network to make short and long-term change to successfully tackle the causes and consequences of violence. The results are measurable and the VRN is making an impact.
I heard an inspiring presentation from the award-winning community partner Go-Getta CIC who told me about the fantastic projects they are delivering for young people in LLR, particular in Loughborough. I saw a brilliant music video created by their very talented young people (see pinned tweet @gogettacic). Thank you for these projects to help reduce violence.
