Visit to Leicester by the High Sheriff of the West Midlands

The home of Leicester Tigers, the King Richard III centre and Leicester Cathedral were among the attractions of Leicester that I showed to the High Sheriff of The West Midlands Mark Smith when he visited our city recently. In fact, Mr Smith was born and raised in Leicester and his visit also included a surprise trip to his former school – Overdale Junior School – thanks to the school’s Executive Headteacher Hayley Holmes. During the visit we met children and staff and talked to the pupils about how important it is to work hard at school to achieve your full potential in life.

The behind-the-scenes tour of the Mattioli Woods Stadium, home of Leicester Tigers, was arranged thanks to CEO of the Leicester Tigers Foundation Sam Swift.

And Manager of Leicester City Council Visitor Attractions Phil Hackett hosted the visit to the King Richard III Centre and Leicester Cathedral.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to a memorable day.
