High Sheriff of Leicestershire’s Justice Service
One of the most significant events of the High Sheriff’s year is the Justice Service which is an occasion to celebrate and acknowledge the role of the judiciary and public service. As High Sheriff of Leicestershire I hosted the service at Leicester Cathedral on Sunday 12 October. Nearly 200 invited guests attended. It was also an occasion to commit to uphold the Nolan Principles, which are ethical guidelines for all those who hold public office.

The Lord Bishop of Leicester Martyn Snow gave the sermon. The civic, legal, and ecclesiastical procession included the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire Mike Kapur OBE CStJ, Chairman of Leicestershire County Council Cllr Paul Harrison, Lord Mayor of Leicester Cllr Teresa Aldred, The Honourable Mr Justice Choudhury and The Honorary Recorder of Leicester HHJ Tim Spencer KC. Visiting High Sheriffs from nearby counties also attended: from Buckinghamshire Pippa Kirkbride, Rutland Col Richard Chesterfield, Nottinghamshire Ed Attenborough DL, Northamptonshire Jeremy Sharman and Lincolnshire David Chambers DL.
The cathedral choir was superb, especially its rendition of Handel’s Zadok the Priest.
